About Us

Acorn Veterinary Clinic was established in 1958 providing round the clock, quality veterinary services in the North Cork and surrounding area.

Initially, we were almost entirely dedicated to servicing the dairy industry from our base in Kildorrery. However, over the years we have built up a strong practice base in Mallow, which was established in 2006 by Noel Ahern and again upgraded in 2009. At present we have veterinary practices in Mallow and Kildorrery, both of which offer a wide range of services to cater for large and small animals.

Professional, Modern, Caring

Acorn Vet Clinic has 3 vets dedicated to both small and large animals. Also on hand to cater to your every need is our fantastic support team, made up of 3 veterinary nurses and administrative staff.

Footsi
FootsiThe cat
Meet Footsi, our in-house kitten here at the clinic! Footsi was dropped in to us one very busy Saturday evening in December. He was only about 5 – 6 weeks old. He was found by a couple on a roadside while they were out walking. They picked him up and on closer inspection saw that his foot was swollen to twice the size it should have been. When he arrived at the clinic, he was examined by the vet and xrayed. The xray showed that he had multiple fractures and wounds on his hind leg. The leg could not be saved and had to be amputated. Footsi has recovered very well from his big operation and is presently flying around on three legs. He has a huge personality and always puts a smile on our faces when he greets us in the mornings. He loves nothing more than being cuddled and getting his ears rubbed. He is ‘king of the castle’ here at Acorn and is loved by all of us. Footsi and everyone at Acorn Veterinary clinic are very glad that he was handed in on that busy December evening.
